The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced their intention to picket the office of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the premises of power distribution companies (DisCos) nationwide. This protest is in response to the hike in electricity tariff.
In a joint statement by NLC's acting General Secretary, Chris Uyot, and TUC's General Secretary, Anka Hassan, the unions stated that the picketing action is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 13, 2024, simultaneously in all states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The statement called for cooperation between the two labour centres to carry out this action and expressed appreciation for the anticipated support.
