President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, expressed deep concern on Tuesday, February 27, over the severe hunger gripping Nigerians due to the country's economic hardship. He called on the federal government to promptly tackle the situation.

Ajaero made these remarks at the National Assembly Complex during a protest he led, joined by thousands of demonstrators from civil society organizations, to highlight the economic challenges facing the country. He emphasized the urgent need to address the widespread hunger, stating, "History will not forgive us if we do not protest at the level of hunger in the land."

He also raised issues such as the devaluation of the Naira, increasing insecurity, and rising unemployment, highlighting the need for immediate action to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. Ajaero indicated that the NLC would decide on its next course of action.

During the protest, the NLC President submitted a letter outlining their grievances to a representative of the National Assembly leadership. Senator Diket Plang, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, accepted the letter and acknowledged the hardship faced by Nigerians. He assured that efforts would be made to urgently address the situation and promised that the letter would be acted upon promptly.
