NNPC CEO Highlights Gas Sector’s Role in Revenue Generation

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), emphasized the pivotal role of the country's gas sector in driving revenue growth for businesses. Speaking to reporters in Owerri on Wednesday, Kyari discussed the significance of three critical gas infrastructures inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in Delta and Owerri.

The inaugurated projects include the ANOH-OB3 CTMS gas pipeline and ANOH gas processing plant in Imo, as well as the expansion of the AHL gas processing plant 2 gas project in Delta. These initiatives, undertaken by NNPC Ltd and partners, align with Tinubu's commitment to leveraging gas to bolster the economy.

Kyari praised the conducive business environment fostered by the Tinubu-led administration, citing favorable fiscal policies and taxation incentives that encourage gas development. He noted a surge in investments in floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, signaling renewed interest in Nigeria's gas sector.

The NNPC CEO emphasized the significance of these infrastructure inaugurations, highlighting the shift towards utilizing gas resources for domestic markets, including power generation, industrial applications, and chemical production. He underscored the potential for job creation, tax revenues, and economic growth inherent in a robust gas sector.

Kyari expressed confidence in Nigeria's ability to harness its gas resources effectively, emphasizing the transformative impact on national prosperity. The swift realization of these gas projects underscores the country's capability to translate gas resources into tangible value, paving the way for a prosperous future.

Mohit Barot, Managing Director of AHL, commended President Tinubu's efforts in revitalizing the gas sector and fostering a conducive business environment. He pledged the private sector's commitment to contributing significantly to the nation's economy through job creation, technological advancement, and environmental sustainability.

Sen. Udo Udoma, Chairman of Seplat, reaffirmed the company's dedication to supporting the government's industrialization agenda and promoting economic growth. He lauded the collaborative efforts behind the inaugurated gas plant, aligning with Seplats' mission of providing accessible, affordable, and reliable energy for Nigeria's prosperity.

The event, attended by senior government officials, industry partners, and stakeholders, signifies a collective commitment to leveraging Nigeria's gas resources for economic development and prosperity.
