No past government can match Tinubu’s record in FCT — Wike

ABUJA — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thrown a challenge to previous administrations, asking them to present evidence that they have executed more development projects in Abuja than the current government of President Bola Tinubu.

Wike made the statement on Tuesday while commissioning the newly completed Engineering Infrastructure in Wuye District, marking the end of over a month of continuous project inaugurations and flag-offs across the FCT.

During the past weeks, Wike’s ministry has unveiled and initiated several key projects, including 12 new roads across different districts, Lot 1 of the Light Up Abuja Solar Streetlight Project, access roads to the Mabushi Bus Terminal, and the construction and expansion of water supply to satellite towns (Lot 1 and 2). He also recently flagged off the construction of a 600-bed hostel for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.

The minister said the achievements recorded under the Tinubu-led administration reflect a government determined to make a real difference, challenging critics to produce any record that surpasses what has been done so far.

“I want to challenge anybody who would say that in the history of the FCT, any administration has beaten the record of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Wike declared.

“If there is any administration since the inception of the FCT that has done more than Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, let them speak now or forever remain silent. This is leadership that is committed to changing lives.”

Wike explained that the Wuye road project, which was originally awarded in 2009, had been abandoned for years until President Tinubu’s administration completed it.

“This contract was awarded in 2009 — that’s 16 years ago. Was Bola Ahmed Tinubu the President then? No. Was this road completed? No. But today, we have changed the narrative. We’ve shamed the opposition,” he said.

He added that the FCTA will soon begin commissioning newly renovated schools across the territory as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and public services in the capital.

Wike also sent a clear political message to local government chairmanship aspirants, promising to back anyone who supports President Tinubu.

“For all of you contesting elections and supporting Mr President, be assured of my support. I have no regrets saying it. If you are with Asiwaju, I’m with you 100 percent,” he said.

“So if you haven’t changed your mind, don’t. Because very soon, there will be a political tsunami — it’s Asiwaju all the way.”
