The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Shedrack Olawale Olayemi, a suspect wanted for armed robbery and the alleged rape of female students from Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun. Olayemi, aged 33, had been evading capture since July and was arrested by the Igbeba Division in Ijebu-Ode on Monday. His capture followed a tip-off that revealed his presence in the university area, where he had been attempting to conceal his identity.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, Olayemi had been on the run since he and his accomplices carried out a robbery at the female Royal Villa accommodation on July 21, 2024. During the incident, he allegedly stole valuables including laptops, iPhones, and cash, before sexually assaulting a female student. Swift police action led to his arrest once intelligence confirmed his location.
