A high-profile Boko Haram terrorist, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) troops in Kukawa, Borno State. The MNJTF’s Chief Military Information Officer, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osaba, revealed in a statement that Abacha was involved in multiple operations along the Mongunu-Baga axis.
Abacha cited the intense military pressure and his waning commitment to the cause as reasons for his surrender. Upon giving himself up, he handed over an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a mobile phone, and other items. Abacha is reportedly providing valuable intelligence to authorities.
In a separate MNJTF operation, troops ambushed Boko Haram militants transporting logistics supplies in three vehicles. After a gunfight, one terrorist was killed, and the others fled, leaving behind food supplies and a small amount of cash.
The MNJTF continues to increase pressure on Boko Haram, achieving significant breakthroughs in both combat and intelligence-gathering efforts.
