A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in the Oba Ile community of Akure North, Ondo State, where a 19-year-old mentally unstable young man fatally stabbed an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect’s mother had called two NSCDC operatives to help restrain her son after he began acting violently earlier in the day. During the attempt to chain him down, the teenager reportedly overpowered one of the officers, seized the officer’s knife, and stabbed him.
“But it was unfortunate,” the witness added, noting that the officer, though armed, was caught off-guard during the struggle and could not defend himself.
