NYSC DG: Corps Members to Get N77,000 Allowance, Won’t Be Posted to Unsafe Areas

NYSC

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will no longer be posted to communities facing security threats, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to their safety.

Ahmed also revealed that the Federal Government has approved an increase in corps members’ monthly allowance to ₦77,000, with disbursements set to begin in February 2025.

NYSC Prioritizing Safety in Postings

Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, Ahmed assured them that the NYSC would only deploy members to safe and secure locations.

"We will not send our corps members to wherever we have security challenges and threats. Wherever we send them, they should be rest assured that the place is safe and secured for them to serve," he stated.

Allowance Increase Effective from February

Ahmed further disclosed that the ₦77,000 monthly allowance had been captured in the 2025 Federal Government budget, and corps members should expect the increment by next month.

"This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving ₦77,000 instead of the usual ₦33,000," he announced.

The DG urged corps members to reciprocate the government’s gesture by fully committing themselves to national service during their one-year program.

NYSC Reaffirms Commitment to Corps Members’ Welfare

Ahmed reiterated NYSC’s dedication to corps members' welfare and security, assuring them that all necessary measures are in place to ensure their well-being.

With this significant increase in allowance and heightened security measures, the NYSC scheme is set for a major transformation, providing corps members with better financial stability and a more secure service experience.
