The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has urged Edo State governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, to honor his campaign promises when he assumes office. The monarch gave this advice during a meeting at his palace, where Okpebholo and Deputy Governor-elect Dennis Idahosa presented their certificates of return.
Oba Ewuare II emphasized the importance of delivering on promises made to the people, assuring the governor-elect that doing so would bring admiration and blessings. He further expressed his support and prayers for the new administration, especially ahead of the upcoming Emoro (new yam festival) and his own 8th coronation anniversary.
In response, Okpebholo thanked the Oba for his guidance and prayers, pledging to serve the people of Edo State diligently. He was accompanied to the palace by several political figures, including Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.
The swearing-in ceremony for Okpebholo and Idahosa is set for November 12, marking the beginning of their tenure as leaders of Edo State.
