The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola on suspicion of involvement in cult-related activities in the Ijoko area of Sango-Ota, within the Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended on August 8, 2024, following a tip-off from residents about a gathering of suspected cult members.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, Salami and Adeola were detained while others managed to flee when the Anti-Robbery Squad arrived on the scene. Items recovered included a toy silver pistol, locally made amulets, and suspected Indian hemp. Adeola confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity, having been initiated in 2022 at Atan-Ota.

The Ijoko area and other parts of the local government have recently seen a surge in cult clashes, attacks, and killings. The police are intensifying efforts to capture the remaining members involved in these violent activities, as the community continues to grapple with the ongoing threat of cult-related violence.
