The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspected killers of Prophet Yomi Adetula, a pastor at the Celestial Church of Christ’s Hebrew Parish in Idiroko, Ogun State. Adetula was shot dead during a Sunday service, and his lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood when police arrived at the scene. According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the assailants not only riddled the 54-year-old’s body with bullets but also brutally hacked his head with an axe to ensure his death.

Witnesses reported that the attackers stormed the church with long double-barrelled shotguns, causing panic among congregants before targeting and killing the prophet. The suspects fled towards the border area, evading immediate capture. Odutola confirmed that the body has been moved to the General Hospital Mortuary in Ilaro, and investigations are underway to track the killers.

Sources revealed that Adetula was a senior officer of the Social Orientation and Safety Corps in Ogun State and a key witness in an ongoing legal case involving a suspect. This revelation has raised suspicions about possible motives behind the attack, with investigators seeking clues to uncover the perpetrators’ identities and intentions.

The tragic incident echoes a similar attack in 2023, when gunmen targeted a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ogun State, killing the pastor and abducting worshippers. The Ogun State Police Command assured the public that they are committed to restoring security and bringing the culprits to justice.
