The Ogun State Police Command has issued a public warning regarding a notorious one-chance robbery gang operating along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Mowe expressway.
In a statement shared on Thursday via her X handle, the command's spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, highlighted the increasing number of complaints from residents about the gang's activities. One recent incident involved a victim who was robbed at gunpoint of N700,000 after boarding a car from Kajola on Wednesday.
Odutola advised traders and business owners to avoid traveling with large sums of cash and urged commuters to record and share videos with the police if they feel uncertain about the safety of their vehicle.
“The Ogun State Police Command has been flooded with reports of a notorious gang operating between Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Mowe. Commuters on this route should record their trips and share the footage with the police if they are unsure about the vehicle they are in,” she said.
Odutola added, “We urge our traders and business owners not to take the risk of traveling with large amounts of money. In a recent case, a victim who boarded a car from Kajola was robbed at gunpoint and forced to transfer N700,000 through a POS machine. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.”
