Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has authorized the release of 28 suspects apprehended by the Ondo State Security Network, also known as the Amotekun Corps.
The arrests, made across all 18 local governments, targeted individuals involved in various crimes such as kidnapping, dangerous driving, burglary, anti-grazing activities, public peace disturbances, theft, and trafficking in stolen goods.
Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye of the Ondo Amotekun Corps stated that the 28 suspects, identified as first-time offenders with non-capital offenses, will be released to their families for rehabilitation under strict warnings against future criminal activities.
Governor Aiyedatiwa's directive comes amidst the festive period, emphasizing rehabilitation for first-time offenders while ensuring that repeat offenders face the full consequences of the law to deter criminal behavior. The Amotekun Corps remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Ondo State, with ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates and apprehend their sponsors.
