The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that one person died and two others were severely injured in a fatal crash along the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto axis of Ikorodu Road.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Taofiq Adebayo.
According to him, investigations revealed that a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus (LND 490 SD) collided with a truck (EKY 121 YJ) while recklessly competing for right of way.
“In the tragic incident, a passenger seated by the doorway of the bus was thrown out and crushed beneath the truck’s rear tires, leading to instant death. Two other passengers, a male and a female, sustained serious injuries and were rushed by LASAMBUS officials to Ikorodu General Hospital for urgent treatment,” Bakare-Oki said.
He added that the victim’s remains were later handed over to the family by police officers, while LASTMA officials cleared the accidented vehicles to restore traffic flow.
