Tinubu

Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will complete his two terms in office, reaffirming the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s commitment to Tinubu’s reelection bid for 2027.

Speaking on a national television political program, Kalu, who is a former Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, stated that the ruling party has no other candidate to represent it in the upcoming 2027 presidential election besides President Tinubu.

No Igbo Presidency in 2027

Despite acknowledging the need for an Igbo presidency in the future, Kalu ruled out the possibility of an Igbo candidate in 2027, emphasizing that the Igbo must present a widely accepted candidate to all Nigerians.

"The Igbo must present an acceptable candidate to all Nigerians. No one zone can make a president. President Tinubu was not elected by the Yoruba. He was elected by all Nigerians," Kalu explained.

When asked whether the time was right for an Igbo president, Kalu reiterated his stance on President Tinubu’s second term, emphasizing that Tinubu completing two terms is non-negotiable.

President Tinubu’s Reelection is a Must

Kalu made it clear that in the APC, there is only one candidate for the 2027 presidential electionPresident Tinubu, who is expected to serve a second term.

"In our party, we have only one presidential candidate now. President Tinubu has to do eight years. It’s a must," Kalu affirmed.

He further highlighted the economic improvements under President Tinubu’s leadership, noting that while progress takes time, the repairs to the economy are already evident.

"This president is not even doing politics. He has never told anybody he wants to run for an election or not. But as a party, we have mandated him to run and given him a vote of confidence," Kalu added.

APC's Support for Tinubu's Reelection

The APC National Executive Council (NEC) has already shown confidence in President Tinubu's leadership through a vote of confidence that was proposed by Imo State Governor and announced by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC National Chairman.

Kalu emphasized that under President Tinubu, things cannot be expected to improve overnight, but the party and the country are making steady progress.

Looking Ahead to 2027

With Tinubu’s reelection bid firmly in place, the APC is preparing for another four years under his leadership, as Kalu strongly believes President Tinubu is the only candidate that can continue to lead the nation forward.
