Victor Osimhen put on a standout performance as Nigeria secured a dramatic 3–2 victory over Tunisia in Fes on Saturday, sealing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations knockout stage.
The Super Eagles looked comfortable early on, racing into a 3–0 lead through goals from Osimhen, captain Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman. But Tunisia fought back bravely, scoring twice late on to turn the contest into a tense finish.
Nigeria dominated the opening half hour, a big improvement from their laboured win over Tanzania in the first group game. Osimhen was a constant threat in the air, troubling the Tunisian defence with his movement and physical presence. He came close twice early on and even had a goal ruled out for offside before finally breaking the deadlock just before halftime with a powerful header from Lookman’s cross.
Five minutes into the second half, Lookman was again the provider, delivering a corner that Ndidi headed home to double Nigeria’s lead. The third goal arrived in the 67th minute when Osimhen turned creator, setting up Lookman, who calmly controlled the ball and fired into the net off the post.

Tunisia refused to give up. Montassar Talbi pulled one back with a header from a free-kick, and Ali Abdi later converted a penalty after a VAR review for handball. The Carthage Eagles pushed hard in stoppage time and came close to equalising, but Nigeria held on.
With the win, Nigeria move to six points in Group C, ahead of Tunisia on three, while Tanzania and Uganda have one point each. The result also marked the seventh AFCON meeting between Nigeria and Tunisia, with the Super Eagles once again showing their quality on the big stage.
