Osun State Government Mandates Recitation of “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” in Schools

Osun

The Osun State Government has instructed all public and private schools in the state to begin reciting "Nigeria, We Hail Thee," the reinstated old national anthem recently approved by President Bola Tinubu. This directive is part of a broader move to comply with the new National Anthem bill signed into law on Wednesday.

In a release signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Murtala Jimoh, and obtained in Osogbo on Friday, the state government emphasized the importance of adhering to this new directive. The statement read, "The Federal Government recently approved a new National Anthem for the country, it is therefore pertinent for schools across Osun State to comply with this directive."

Jimoh directed all heads of schools, both public and private, to ensure that their students learn and recite the reinstated anthem during their morning assemblies. "It is expected that it is the new Anthem that should be rendered during their various morning assemblies and this should be done as a matter of duty," he stated.
