Oyo Police Tighten Security Ahead of Easter Celebrations

The Oyo State Police Command has rolled out extensive security measures across the state ahead of the Easter celebration, assuring residents of a peaceful and hitch-free festivity.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the move aligns with the directive and policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, aimed at strengthening public safety and boosting citizens’ confidence.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Olugbenga, congratulated Christians on the occasion of Easter, urging them to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ by embracing love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence. He also encouraged prayers for peace, unity, and progress in the state and the country at large.

Olugbenga reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the celebration. He noted that security agencies would work together to ensure adequate coverage at worship centres, recreational spots, major highways, and other public places.

He also called on residents to cooperate with the police, stressing that timely and accurate information remains crucial to effective policing. Citizens were urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency channels.

The commissioner further appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu, for his continued support and leadership, which he said has improved operational efficiency within the command.
