Oyo State Government Demolishes Yoruba Nation Agitators’ Hideout in Ibadan Based on Court Order

The Oyo State Government clarified on Thursday that the demolition of a building suspected to be the hideout of Yoruba Nation agitators in Ibadan was carried out based on a court order. The buildings used by the agitators were demolished following their invasion of the state Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday, April 7, 2024.

Speaking to journalists at the demolished sites in Shagari area, Toye Oyesola Street, Boluwaji, and Zone 4, Irorun Oluwa Community, Fatusi Ayegun Road, Odo Dudu area, in Oluyole Local Government Area, the state Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Survey, and Urban Development, William Akin-Funmilayo, emphasized the government's commitment to maintaining peace and security.

Akin-Funmilayo urged residents to promptly report any suspicious or threatening activity in their surroundings to the relevant authorities. He assured that the state administration would continue to prioritize the safety of lives and property, emphasizing the importance of collective vigilance in ensuring security.

Additionally, the government demolished a facility in Idi Ayunre, Oluyole Local Government Area, suspected to be used by illegal miners for processing and packaging lithium. The facility's closure was ordered by Governor Seyi Makinde on February 28, 2024, as it was originally intended for recycling batteries and tyres.
