Tanker Explosion Causes Chaos on Bida-Agaie Road in Niger State
A petrol-laden tanker on Tuesday afternoon skidded off the road and exploded along the Bida-Agaie Road in Niger State, sparking panic among motorists and residents in the area.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State, Hajiya Aishatu Sa’adu, confirmed the incident in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
Sa’adu said that the number of casualties was yet to be confirmed as rescue operations were still ongoing.
“Our officers are already at the scene conducting rescue operations,” she stated.

The explosion caused a massive traffic gridlock on the ever-busy highway, with vehicles stranded for hours. Sa’adu attributed the delay in response to the poor condition of the road, which made it difficult for emergency teams to reach the scene quickly.
“The bad state of the road has seriously affected our response time,” she added.
Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while efforts continue to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.
