In a dramatic showdown, security forces reportedly killed five gunmen who launched an attack on Ishieke Police Station in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The incident unfolded late Wednesday night when the armed assailants engaged police in a prolonged shootout, causing panic among residents who sought refuge.
Eyewitness Tony Nwori recounted the gunmen's arrival and their initial volley of gunfire aimed at the police station. The exchange of fire lasted over 30 minutes until reinforcements, including soldiers, arrived on the scene. The gunmen attempted to escape through Odomoke Ishieke market, but security forces pursued and ultimately neutralized them.
