The Kano State Police Command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers during intelligence-driven operations in Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of the state.
The arrests, carried out on December 14, 2025, involved operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical units, acting on credible intelligence.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, four suspects were arrested at Rahma Round in Kiru LGA after police operatives cordoned off the area.
One of the suspects, Shafiu Ibrahim, 25, from Auchanawa Village in Ikara LGA of Kaduna State, reportedly confessed to being a member of a kidnapping gang and taking part in several cattle rustling operations. A TVS motorcycle was recovered from him, while the three other suspects arrested at the same location are still under investigation for various offences.
In a separate operation, a joint team comprising the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Tsanyawa Police Division arrested one Bishir Umar, 24, from Karaduwa LGA of Katsina State, at Mahuta Village in Tsanyawa LGA.

Police said Umar confessed that he and his accomplices entered Kano State on two motorcycles, armed with a rifle, to carry out criminal activities. He was arrested while on surveillance, while his accomplices reportedly fled with the motorcycles and the weapon.
The command stated that all suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
Commending residents for their cooperation, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies to aid crime-fighting efforts across the state.
