Police Arrest Four Over Motorcycle Theft in Niger State
The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects in separate cases of motorcycle theft in Minna, the state capital.
In a statement released on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the arrests were made following coordinated operations by officers attached to the Central Police Station and other tactical units.
According to Abiodun, the first suspect, Ibrahim Musa, aged 20, from Garam village in Bwari, FCT, was intercepted around 10 p.m. on October 2 at Gwari Market, Minna, with a Bajaj motorcycle.
“He was intercepted at Gwari Market, Minna with a Bajaj motorcycle and could not give a satisfactory account of himself. He was immediately arrested and taken to the police station,” the statement partly read.
Investigations revealed that Musa had allegedly absconded with the motorcycle from Bwari over a month earlier and even blocked the owner’s number to avoid contact. The rightful owner was later traced and confirmed the theft, after which the suspect was charged to court.
In a separate incident, on October 3, the police arrested another suspect, 17-year-old Yusuf Adamu, from the Limawa area of Minna, after receiving a report that he absconded with a Jincheng motorcycle and a mobile phone entrusted to him by the owner.
“During a raid of black spots within Limawa, Yusuf Adamu was arrested. He confessed that he sold the motorcycle and phone through one of his friends in Maitumbi,” Abiodun said.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two of his accomplices — 19-year-old Salisu Musa of Sayako and Hussaini Salisu of Tudun-Fulani. The stolen motorcycle was recovered in the process.
Abiodun confirmed that all four suspects have been arraigned in court for prosecution.
