The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Anas Dauda, from Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward, in Mubi South Local Government Area, for unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, Dauda’s arrest came after a viral video surfaced on social media showing him displaying an AK-47 rifle with three loaded magazines while making threatening remarks and boasting about selling or leasing the weapon for money.
“The video caused panic and fear among residents and was quickly brought to the attention of the Command,” Nguroje said in a statement released on Friday in Yola.
Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, ordered operatives from the Mubi South Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, to trace and arrest the suspect.
Police officers eventually tracked Dauda down and apprehended him at a remote location in Mubi town.
