Police Arrest Robbery, Cultism Suspects and Recover Weapons in Delta State

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered several weapons during an operation in Asaba.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.

According to Edafe, the incident occurred on November 23, 2025, at about 6:30pm after a distress call reported a robbery along the Asaba–Benin Expressway. The Commander of the Eagle Net Special Squad, SP Danyaya Inusa, immediately deployed surveillance teams, working alongside operatives of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service.

On getting to the scene, the robbers opened fire on the officers. The operatives responded, overpowered them, and forced the gang to flee. After a chase, three suspects were arrested:

Oghenemaro Martins (25)

Tarebi Miracle Ogbada (22)

Okorie James Kalu (19)

Recovered items include one English-made Beretta pistol, four locally made pistols, four live 9mm rounds, a laptop, and an iPhone.

In a separate operation, the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested suspected cultists who had been terrorising the Sapele–Oghara axis.

The arrests were made on November 25, 2025, at about 5:30pm following credible intelligence on the activities of a violent gang. Those apprehended include:

Mudiaga Ukavwe (31)

Solomon Oghoro a.k.a. Spartan (30)

The suspects, who confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity, were found with one pump-action gun, six live cartridges, a cutlass, and a Toyota Sienna vehicle reportedly used for surveillance and operations.

All suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network.

Separately, the Niger State Police Command recently arrested seven robbery suspects believed to have been terrorising residents in the state. Two of the suspects were caught during a stop-and-search operation in Minna.
