The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers in Awarasi Village, Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, and recovered a stolen commercial tricycle from them.
Police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the arrests followed a distress call received by the command on Monday.
According to Ikenga, a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge, Awka North LGA, by armed men who dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.
“On September 21, 2025, at about 2:20 pm, the Command received a distress call on how a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge by armed men who dispossessed him of his tricycle. Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital, where he is responding to treatment,” the statement read.
Ikenga said operatives, acting on intelligence, traced the suspects to Awarasi Village, where the stolen tricycle was recovered.
The suspects Kosisochukwu Nweke (26), Emmanuel Eze (24), and Osondu Ifeanyi (20) were arrested after attempting to flee on sighting the police.
He added that efforts were ongoing to uncover more leads into their criminal network, stressing that the suspects would be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.
