Police Clash with Protesters in Borno After Suicide Bombing

At least two people were injured when police officers from the Borno Police Command clashed with protesters in Maiduguri, Borno State. One protester is feared dead after being struck by teargas canisters used by the police to disperse the crowd in the Bulunkutu area.

The police resorted to firing teargas and live ammunition after failing to persuade the demonstrators to leave. The protesters had gathered to protest the hunger crisis affecting the country.

This confrontation followed a suicide bombing at a market in Konduga, which killed at least 17 people and left over 20 injured. The violent clash underscores the growing unrest and frustration over the severe economic conditions in the region.
