Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue 10 Passengers in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued 10 passengers on December 24 at Kwanar Makera, Jibia Local Government Area. The incident occurred when armed bandits attacked a commercial vehicle on the Katsina-Magama-Jibia road, firing sporadically in an attempt to abduct the occupants.

According to the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene, engaging the bandits in a fierce gun battle. The intervention successfully foiled the kidnapping and ensured the safety of all 10 victims.

Tragically, four of the rescued victims sustained gunshot injuries during the attack. While two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, the remaining victims received urgent medical attention. Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, praised the officers for their bravery and urged them to maintain their commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He also appealed to the public for timely and credible information to aid in combating criminal activities.
