Police Foil Kidnapping Attempts Across Eight States on Christmas Day

The Nigeria Police Force reported a successful crackdown on kidnapping attempts across eight states on Christmas Day, resulting in the arrest of 23 suspects. The operations, which spanned Lagos, Kaduna, Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, Imo, and the Federal Capital Territory, also led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, including a fabricated AK-47 rifle.

Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi stated that the arrests were part of an anti-crime strategy implemented by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. In Lagos, police operatives apprehended three suspects armed with dangerous weapons who were targeting fun-seekers in the Safejo area of Amukoko. Weapons used in their robbery attempts were also recovered.

In Kaduna State, a major breakthrough was recorded with the arrest of Sule Muhammad, a suspect linked to multiple kidnappings in the Saminaka area. A fabricated AK-47 rifle was recovered, and the suspect confessed to being part of a notorious gang. Authorities are intensifying efforts to capture other gang members and seize additional weapons.

Similar successes were achieved in other states, with arrests made for various criminal activities. Adejobi reaffirmed the police's commitment to enhancing security nationwide during the festive period and beyond.
