The Ogun State Police Command has successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired AIG Hakeem Odumosu, after a harrowing abduction on January 16, 2025. She was forcibly taken by four masked gunmen outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State, sparking an immediate police response.
Acting on intelligence and extensive surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo, operatives tracked the kidnappers to a swampy area in Ikorodu. During a raid on January 23, 2025, at about 6:45 a.m., the police engaged the armed kidnappers in a gunfight, neutralizing two suspects while four others fled. Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed from the creeks and has since been reunited with her family after a precautionary medical evaluation.
The operation led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, various ammunition, and ₦10 million ransom money. The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and efficiency in executing the rescue.
