The Police Command in Kano State has launched an investigation into the reported beheading of a minor, Mohammed Saidu, by a 16-year-old Almajiri at Kanwa village, Madobi Local Government Area. Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the 6-year-old Saidu was allegedly killed by the Almajiri identified as Abdullahi, who is from Zamfara.

According to Gumel, Abdullahi was seen at Kanwa village by a concerned individual carrying a blood-stained knife believed to be human blood. Following a search, Saidu's headless body was discovered in a nearby primary school. To prevent Abdullahi from being lynched, he was taken to the village head's house. However, the enraged mob overpowered the village head, attacked Abdullahi, and inflicted severe injuries on him.

Upon police intervention, Abdullahi confessed to the crime, revealing that he disposed of the victim's head in a pit toilet near the primary school. He was rushed to Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital for treatment but died during the process. Saidu's remains were recovered and taken to the hospital for examination before being released to his family for burial, Gumel added.
