Police recover stolen vehicle, arrest female suspect in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux and arrested a woman who was allegedly trying to smuggle the vehicle out of the country.

 

According to the police, the recovery was made through a swift, intelligence-driven operation by its Special Intervention Squad (SIS), which intercepted the suspect along Airport Road in Nassarawa Local Government Area on October 6, 2025.

 

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, identified the suspect as 35-year-old Adama Hassan from Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State. She was reportedly caught attempting to conceal the stolen vehicle, which was being transported to the Niger Republic.

 

The stolen Toyota Hilux, with registration number GWA 998 AR, had been reported missing on September 29, 2025, from Ikeja Road in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.

 

“The suspect confessed to receiving the vehicle from a male accomplice from Lafiyan Lamurde LGA in Adamawa State, who is currently on the run,” the police statement said.

 

SP Kiyawa added that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplice and recover other stolen vehicles linked to the case.

He praised the professionalism of the officers who carried out the operation and thanked residents for their support and timely information, which helped the police track down the suspect.

 

“The Command urges the good people of Kano State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station,” he added.

 

Kiyawa assured residents that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property across the state and will continue to pursue criminals until they are brought to justice.
