Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested seven suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims following a swift operation in Ubeji Community, near the Ubeji Gas Plant in Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a statement released on Friday in Asaba, the state capital.
According to him, the incident happened on October 30, 2025, after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Division, CSP Labe Joseph, received a distress call about a suspected kidnapping in the area.
“Acting on the report, the DPO deployed a team of detectives and patrol officers to the scene.
On sighting the police teams, the suspected kidnappers fled into an abandoned poultry house within the community. The team quickly cordoned off the area and arrested the suspects,” Edafe stated.
Those arrested — all said to be indigenes of Ubeji Community — were identified as Felix Omone (33), Solomon Omone (29), Tony Eboye (34), Omone David (32), Jerry Omone (33), Godspower Omone (25), and Edewho Bomele (33).
Edafe explained that the three kidnapped victims had since been rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were abducted at a dredging site in Ubeji, taken across a river, and later contacted by the suspects, who threatened to kill them if ransom demands were not met.
He added that police operatives were still on the trail of other fleeing members of the gang and were working to recover any weapons used in the operation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, has assured residents that the Command remains fully committed to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, and the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state,” Edafe added.
