Police Thwart Armed Robbery, Neutralize Three Gunmen in Rivers State Showdown

Police in Rivers State have successfully thwarted an armed robbery operation at the Prisigbara, Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Khana local government area, resulting in the death of three gunmen. The Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating that officers from the Police Division, Bori, and the Anti-cultism unit responded swiftly to a distress call.

Upon arrival, the police engaged the robbers in a gunfight, ultimately overpowering them due to superior firepower. Unfortunately, three suspects sustained fatal injuries during the exchange and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Police Clinic in Bori. The gang leader, identified as Monday Sulole, also known as "Oyoyo," was responsible for various cult clashes and armed robberies in the Ogoni axis of Rivers.

The police recovered several items from the robbers, including a locally made revolver pistol with three live ammunition, a locally-made shotgun with three cartridges, a machete, and several charms. The area has since returned to normalcy, with increased police patrols to ensure the safety of residents.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reassured the public of the police's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Rivers State. The command appreciates the community's cooperation and pledges to continue working diligently to maintain peace and security in the region.
