President Bola Tinubu to Inaugurate African Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the African Counter-Terrorism Summit on April 22 in Abuja, according to a statement from Ajuri Ngelale, the President's special adviser on media and publicity.

The summit, scheduled from April 22 to 23, is a collaboration between Nigeria and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT). It aims to enhance regional cooperation and institution-building to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism, under the theme "Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism."

The event will gather heads of state and government, high-level officials, and representatives from international organizations and civil society. Its objective is to review the continent's terrorism threat and strategize on African-led and African-owned solutions.

Notable attendees include UN Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Amina Mohammed, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and UNOCT Under-Secretary-General Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, who will deliver closing remarks. The summit aims to enhance regional collaboration, build institutional capacity, and share best practices to combat terrorism in Africa.
