President Tinubu to Unveil Renamed Minna Airport

President Bola Tinubu is set to inaugurate the newly renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, along with an agro-processing zone and agricultural equipment on Monday. The renaming was done by Governor Umar Bago of Niger State on Friday, with the airport first inaugurated by former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida on June 20, 1990.

The agro-processing zone project will utilize about 2,000 hectares, with 1,000 hectares dedicated to drip irrigation and greenhouses, and another 1,000 hectares for dairy product processing. Governor Bago highlighted the significance of the airport's location, emphasizing that Niger State sells an average of half a million cattle daily, and this project will streamline transportation and create employment opportunities.

The ambitious project aims to establish a 140-kilometer water irrigation channel from Shiroro Dam to the airport, with plans to bring in 80 megawatts of power. Additionally, during his visit, Tinubu is expected to meet with former Heads of State Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar.
