The Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has called for the rebuilding of Nigeria’s military institutions to strengthen democracy and safeguard lives and property.

Speaking at the launch of *Nine Lives: The Bello-Fadile Memoirs,* authored by retired Colonel Babatunde Bello-Fadile, Adebayo emphasized the urgent need to reform key national institutions. The event took place at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, on Monday.

Adebayo highlighted Nigeria’s insecurity challenges as a consequence of institutional weaknesses and urged a revival of the military, civil service, justice system, and industrial sector. He remarked, “In an era where modern challenges are timeless, we need to build these institutions. We must encourage people dedicated to these pillars, as exemplified by retired Colonel Bello-Fadile.”

Acknowledging the historical significance of the military in national development, including the creation of Abuja, Adebayo noted, “The military plays a critical role in preserving national unity and identity. We cannot overlook their importance in addressing contemporary challenges.”

To support military education, Adebayo announced the immediate purchase of 1,000 copies of the book for distribution to military schools and institutions across the country.

The event was chaired by former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar and featured prominent attendees, including former Chief of Defence Staff General Martin Luther Agwai, former Senate President David Mark, and ex-Attorney General Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

Other dignitaries included retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, former INEC Chairman Professor Maurice Iwu, and senior advocates Victor Ndoma-Egba, Ahmed Raji, and O.C.J. Okocha.

The book delves into the life and service of Colonel Bello-Fadile, highlighting his dual contributions as a military officer and legal professional.
