Princess Islamiyat Oyefusi, the Labour Party (LP) deputy governorship candidate in Lagos State for the 2023 general election, has resigned from the party, citing a misalignment of values. Confirming her resignation to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Oyefusi emphasized that her decision was not to join any other political party such as the All Progressives Congress (APC) or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oyefusi, who ran alongside LP's governorship candidate, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, expressed her commitment to impacting lives in various communities across Lagos State. She highlighted ongoing efforts, including medical outreaches and food distribution programs, aimed at supporting residents, particularly during challenging times.
The daughter of the late Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, Oyefusi had previously contested as the Lagos East Senatorial aspirant for the PDP in 2019 and resigned from the party in 2022. She emphasized that her current focus is on serving and supporting communities, emphasizing that she does not need to join another party to pursue her ambitions.
