The Defence Headquarters announced that troops of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully rescued 16 Almajiris and a woman who were abducted in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The abduction occurred on March 9, 2024, when terrorists invaded the area. In a statement by the Director of Media Operations, Maj. Gen Buba Edward, the DHQ stated that the troops collaborated with local authorities and government agencies to secure the freedom of the hostages, who have now been handed over to the Sokoto state government.

The statement highlighted the military's commitment to finding and rescuing kidnapped victims across the country. Maj. Gen Buba Edward emphasized that the military would not relent in its efforts until terrorists and other non-state actors responsible for abductions are apprehended and brought to justice.

Furthermore, the DHQ stated that the military is intensifying efforts to locate and rescue other innocent hostages and to apprehend the terrorists behind these crimes. The armed forces are also pursuing those responsible for the killing of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, on March 14, 2024.

To aid in these efforts, the military has released banners displaying images of wanted terrorists and their collaborators, which will be placed in strategic locations nationwide. The public is encouraged to cooperate and report any relevant information that could lead to the arrest of these wanted individuals.
