A retired teacher, Mr. Ike Okoye, has been apprehended by the Anambra State Government for allegedly molesting and engaging in same-sex activities with young boys in the Isuofia community.
The suspect was arrested after the incident was reported to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare by the President-General of Isuofia People's Assembly, Chief Chikadibia Okeke. According to the statement, Okoye had been molesting and engaging in homosexual activities with young men for a long time, but was often bailed out by "higher individuals in the state".

When interrogated, Okoye initially denied the allegations, but later admitted to "romancing some of the boys" and "holding their sexual organs" though he claimed he never penetrated them. Two of his alleged victims, aged 25 and 31, recounted how the suspect would lure them under the guise of financial assistance or household chores, and then engage in inappropriate sexual acts.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, and the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Celestine Anere, expressed sadness over the development and assured the state government's resolve to end child molestation and homosexuality in the state.
