Ogun State's Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo, has highlighted the importance of deploying digital agriculture to enhance production and meet global demands. Speaking at an agricultural show organized by the ministry to mark the 2024 Lisabi Festival in Abeokuta, Owotomo emphasized that digital agriculture could revolutionize the sector, addressing constraints associated with farming and ensuring its sustainability.

Owotomo noted that digital agriculture could attract more youths to farming, as they are the largest users of mobile phones and applications. He stressed that this innovation could make food production more profitable and less burdensome while facilitating effective linkages between markets and consumers. The commissioner also mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance financial inclusion and linkages among youth in agriculture, emphasizing the need to view farming as a business to promote its value chain.

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, represented by Navy Captain Rasheed Raji (rtd), encouraged youths and farmers to take advantage of government interventions aimed at improving production and security. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Alhaja Ganiyat Adeoye-Kushimo, praised the state administration for its support and urged parents to consider farming as a profitable venture, encouraging their children to explore opportunities in agriculture.
