Rivers APC Calls for Governor’s Impeachment Over Controversial Statements

Rivers

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed the state House of Assembly, under Martin Amaewhule's leadership, to immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminialayi Fubara. The directive, issued by the party's caretaker committee (CTC) led by Tony Okocha in Port Harcourt, follows Governor Fubara's recent comments regarding President Tinubu's involvement in the state's crisis.

The APC's call for action stems from Governor Fubara's statement over the weekend, made before former military Governor of the State, HRM Alfred Diete Spiff, wherein he reportedly stated that the House of Assembly does not exist in Rivers State. This assertion has prompted the party's decision to seek the governor's impeachment.

The APC's directive highlights the escalating tensions in Rivers State's political landscape, indicating a significant rift between the governor and the state's legislative body. The coming days are likely to witness intense political developments as the impeachment process unfolds.
