Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reshuffled his cabinet, redeploying two commissioners who are loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN, has been moved to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office), while the former Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
The announcement of this minor cabinet reshuffle was made in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo. The statement directed Adangor and Kamalu to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries, with their redeployments taking immediate effect.
Both Adangor and Kamalu were among nine commissioners who resigned from Fubara’s cabinet during a political crisis in the state. Following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, an eight-point truce was reached, leading to the reappointment of the resigned commissioners, including Adangor and Kamalu. However, the statement did not mention if another of Wike’s loyalists, Emeka Woke, who held the office of the Commissioner for Special Duties, has been affected by the reshuffle. Woke has been openly critical of the current administration, despite serving as a commissioner in Fubara’s cabinet.
