The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has called on the committee members investigating the N30 trillion "Ways and Means" secured from the Godwin Emefiele-led Central Bank of Nigeria to leave no stone unturned in their quest for justice.
Speaking in Abuja during the inauguration of the 17-member ad-hoc Committee probing the N30 trillion 'Ways and Means', Akpabio emphasized the importance of thoroughness and impartiality in their six-week-long investigation.
Akpabio urged the committee to set aside personal and partisan interests, focusing solely on their task and approaching it with utmost balance, devotion, and impartiality. He stressed the need for constant engagement with stakeholders and consultants for valuable insights while maintaining confidentiality until the investigation is concluded.
The committee, led by Senator Jibrin Isah, has pledged to carry out the investigation expeditiously and without compromise. Jibrin assured Nigerians that the committee would not fail in its duty and called on concerned parties to provide necessary documents to facilitate their work.
The 'Ways and Means' is an overdraft taken directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria to address the nation's contingency needs, subject to ratification by the parliament. The investigation aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance in managing the nation's finances.
