Senate Postpones Resumption Till April 23, Citing Easter and Sallah Break

Senate

The Senate has announced the postponement of its resumption, originally slated for Tuesday, April 16, 2024, to Tuesday, April 23. The Clerk to the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, conveyed this message to Senators in a brief notice. The postponement aligns with the Easter and Sallah break, which Senators and House of Representatives members are currently observing.

Similarly, the House of Representatives has also rescheduled its resumption to April 23. The Clerk to the House of Representatives, Yahaya Danzaria, explained that the delay is to ensure that the main chambers, currently undergoing renovation, are ready for lawmakers upon their return.

While Danzaria cited renovation as the reason for the House's postponement, Akubueze attributed the Senate's resumption delay to "unforeseen circumstances." In his message to the Senators, titled "For the information of Distinguished Senators," Akubueze expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change in schedule.
