Senate President Godswill Akpabio has pledged the full cooperation and support of the National Assembly for improved policing in Nigeria. Akpabio made this commitment at the inaugural Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony in Abuja, as reported by his special assistant on Media, Jackson Udom.
Addressing attendees, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Akpabio emphasized the importance of a well-equipped and motivated police force in ensuring citizen security. He promised to provide the necessary legislative framework and resources to enhance police effectiveness.
Akpabio commended Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and the entire police leadership for organizing the event. He urged them to use the ceremony to celebrate the force's achievements and reaffirm their commitment to a safer Nigeria.
The Senate President also acknowledged the challenges faced by the police, such as evolving crime landscapes and the sophistication of criminal gangs. He emphasized the need to address these challenges collectively and to uphold professional standards within the force.
