Senate Reveals’ no Anticipated Blackmail Will Stop Approval of Presidential Plane

The Senate declared that no 'anticipated' blackmail would deter it from approving the purchase of a presidential plane if needed. Senate President GodsWill Akpabio clarified at the plenary that there was no current request for such a purchase. He emphasized the Senate's commitment to approving expenditures that benefit the Nigerian people and support the president's duties.

Akpabio addressed recent social media reports misrepresenting his comments about the plane purchase, calling them "anticipated blackmail." He highlighted the importance of maintaining the presidential fleet's safety, referencing incidents involving defective planes causing the deaths of foreign leaders. He assured that the Senate would responsibly handle any future requests related to the presidential fleet.

The Senate President reiterated the Senate's focus on the nation's welfare, stating they would approve repairs for presidential vehicles and planes if necessary. He dismissed concerns over social media rumors, emphasizing that no such proposal was currently before the Senate.

Akpabio also mentioned that the Senate would disregard propaganda from certain elements aiming to mislead the public about the Senate's stance on the presidential fleet purchase. He reassured that any necessary future decisions would be made responsibly and transparently.
