Senator Sunday Karimi of Kogi West has highlighted the economic challenges inherited by President Bola Tinubu's administration, calling it the worst in the Fourth Republic. Despite this, Karimi praised the administration's commitment to rebuilding the economy and its progress towards a strong, self-sufficient economy. He urged patience, stating that the President's proactive policies are slowly yielding results.
Speaking at the Igbaruku Day event in Igbaruku-Okeri, Kogi State, Karimi emphasized the need for a collective effort between the government and the citizenry to achieve economic recovery. He encouraged patriotism and commitment to community development. Karimi expressed confidence that with citizens' active participation, the economic challenges facing the administration will be addressed successfully in the short term.
Karimi also discussed the economic situation inherited by the Tinubu government, mentioning low GDP growth rates and currency devaluation. Despite these challenges, he praised the government's efforts, noting improvements such as the strengthening of the Naira and the revitalization of refineries. He called for continued support and patience with the administration for a better Nigeria in the future.
In addition, Karimi highlighted infrastructural development in Kogi West, particularly the Iluhagba-Egbe Federal Trunk A Road. He assured the community of ongoing palliative repairs to improve transportation of farm produce and boost the local economy. He also emphasized the importance of financial autonomy for local government administrations and supported the proposal for state police to enhance security and economic growth in local communities.
