The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has called on Nigerians to share their expectations for the 2025 budget ahead of its presentation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the National Assembly on Tuesday. Speaking during a meeting with the Zaria Educational Development Association, Abbas emphasized the importance of public input, urging his constituents to communicate their needs to federal lawmakers to ensure targeted interventions.

During his visit to Zaria, Abbas unveiled plans to establish four federal institutions, including a new Federal College of Education, a College of Health Sciences, a campus of the National Open University, and a College of Legal Studies. He revealed that the existing Federal College of Education would be converted into a Federal University of Education. These initiatives aim to enhance Zaria’s reputation as a hub for academic excellence while addressing critical regional needs.

The Speaker also inspected ongoing constituency projects, laid foundations for new ones, and commissioned completed developments. He highlighted the renovation of 116 primary and secondary schools in Zaria, with comprehensive upgrades aimed at transforming the area’s educational infrastructure. Abbas reaffirmed his commitment to fostering educational growth, citing Zaria’s identity as a center of learning in Nigeria.

Abbas further stated that the groundbreaking ceremonies for the four new institutions would mark a historic day for Zaria. He noted the urgency of addressing the shortage of health professionals in the region and providing flexible learning opportunities for civil servants. “These legacy projects will not only benefit Zaria but will also have a lasting impact on the entire northwestern region,” he said.
