Nigerian singer and social media personality, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail after spending five days in police custody. Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed Darlington's arrest in Lagos last Friday, followed by his transfer to Abuja, stemming from a defamation and cyberstalking complaint filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy.
Darlington was released on Tuesday evening after meeting the bail conditions set by the police. Adeyanju expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to his release and praised the professionalism of the police in the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) department.

The dispute began after a viral video showed Darlington questioning how Burna Boy won his Grammy for Twice As Tall and taunting his connection to US rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently facing serious charges. Darlington’s mother also publicly pleaded with Burna Boy to "tamper justice with mercy" and release her son.
Darlington’s release brings an end to the detention, but the case continues to attract significant public attention.
